Spain through the looking glass

Let them eat worms

leave a comment »

Students at a Valencia high school who discovered worms in their school canteen lunch last week will surely have been reassured by the comforting words from their dedicated caterers.

“What happened is an isolated incident,” said Mercedes Villar, quality control manager at catering firm Serunion Educa. Villar then added that the worm situation was actually pretty normal; in fact, it happened quite frequently because the company worked out of centres all over Spain.

‘We always detect a few cases every year. These bugs are innocuous and don’t pose any risk health risks,” added Villar for anyone who might still be listening.

Bon appétit kids. And eat up.
